Eating

The Haute-Savoie region of France is famed for it’s cheesy dishes – Tartiflette…fondue…raclette. This region of the alpes also has it’s own speciality – the Berthoud, made with the local Abondance cheese.

Whilst some find the local fare heavy, it is perfect for the cold winter and has its roots in times where food supply was not like today, and the rural area depended on food that could be stored through the winter – cured meats, cheese and potatoes. Many people from other regions of France visit here just for the Savoyard dishes.
