Your Catered Ski Holiday
During the Winter season, Chalet Cannelle offers a catered ski holiday (demi-pension) including breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner and chauffeured minibus service to the slopes
Start everyday with a served breakfast with a hot option such as eggs from our hens and home smoked bacon as well as croissants, fruit, yogurt, cereals, muesli, hot drinks and juices to set you up for your day skiing.
You'll then be whisked to the ski lift of your choice by our chauffeured minibus service. There are 5 to choose from between 5 and 12 minutes drive. Once the legs are weary there is no waiting in line for the bus as our chauffeur service will be there waiting for you.
Once back at the chalet it’s time to kick back and relax. Afternoon tea and snacks are served alongside the fire with floor to ceiling views of the mountains or sooth those legs in the hot tub with mountain views.
The Chalet Cannelle lounge is a great place to relax, choose some music, grab a book or magazine or watch a movie. The open bar is always available for soft, hot and alcoholic beverages.
It isn't all about the mountain activity; the evening begins with an apéritif and canapés by the fire before a four course dinner is served. We serve a varied menu at Chalet Cannelle all homemade from scratch, accompanied with fine wines that we source ourselves.
Dinner is included for 6 nights of your stay. On the other evening, you will have the chance to eat at one of the local restaurants. We have a list of recommendations to help you decide where to eat in either Châtel or La Chapelle D'Abondance.
Skiing in Châtel & the Portes du Soleil
Châtel is in the centre of the Portes du Soleil, 650km of pistes crossing France and Switzerland and only 90 minutes by car from Geneva airport. The terrain is suitable for skiers and boarders of all abilities and being a snow sure resort, holds a fantastic snow record.
Close to Avoriaz (2 fast ski lifts) as well as the lesser known resorts of Torgon & Champoussin (locals secret!), Châtel offers a vast choice of tree lined runs and off piste powder under the amazing pinnacles of the Dents du Midi. With 5 different ski lifts in easy access and access to the resorts of Morzine and Les Gets, there is plenty to explore during your stay.
If you like the touring style of skiing, the Châtel ski resort is perfect. One of our favourite ski days starts in the village of la Chapelle d'Abondance, passes through another 6 of the Portes Du Soleil ski resorts before finishing in Châtel - all on one ski pass and without doing the same ski lift twice (although some of the pistes are so incredible, we think you might want to!)
The Portes du Soleil has just as much to offer snowboarders with a number of Snowparks in both Châtel and Avoriaz.
The Abondance valley is home to an extensive 40km of Nordic ski trails for cross country / Nordic skiing, both classic and skating styles. The trails are located between 900m and 1500m and pass through Châtel, La Chapelle d'Abondance and Abondance, following the River Dranse through the valley. All levels are catered for and tuition can be arranged. Chalet Cannelle is located close to the Grand Circuit (trail 7) and the Nordic Centre is a 5 minute drive away in Pantiaz.
